Siliguri, 20th August: On account of the surge in criminal activities in Siliguri, questions have been raised concerning the surveillance system of the administration. In this regard, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Yuva Morcha of Siliguri convened a rally on Sunday demanding a guaranteed security.
According to reports, the procession commenced from Hashmi Chowk (Venus More), circumambulated several areas of the city along the Sevoke Road, and eventually concluded at Hashmi Chowk. During the march, the members of the Yuva Morcha voiced their discontent with the Police Commissioner and the mayor of Siliguri.
According to Arijit Das, president of the BJP Yuva Morcha of Siliguri, the city has witnessed several instances involving homicide, murder, and abduction. As a result, the members expressed their concerns regarding the safety of the residents rather than the general public. Additionally, they urged swift action to be taken against the perpetrators involved in the killing of the woman in Arabindapally. Further, they cautioned the protest to escalate into massive agitation if their concerns are not resolved in the upcoming days.
