Naxalbari, 03rd December: An unsettling incident surfaced from Naxalbari where a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) worker was attacked after urging the toto driver to drive the vehicle properly.
According to reports, on Saturday, a toto rammed into a tractor from behind at Naxalbari Station More. Subsequently, a BJP worker named Shyamal Roy urged the toto driver to drive carefully on the road. Later, as the BJP worker was working in his store, the toto driver allegedly assaulted him and left him injured. Following the attack, the BJP worker was admitted to the Naxalbari Rural Hospital and a formal complaint was lodged at Naxalbari police station.
On Sunday, BJP MLA Anandamoy Barman arrived and met the victim. During this, he highlighted the attack on a party worker. He added that the police have assured to apprehend the miscreants. Further, he cautioned resorting to protest agitation upon failure to take action against the culprit within 24 hours. The BJP leader also claimed an alleged political connection in the incident.
Meanwhile, Naxalbari Block II Trinamool Congress President Prithvish Roy stated that he was unaware of the incident. He added that the law enforcers will take action. Furthermore, he accused the BJP of blaming incidents randomly upon the Trinamool. Furthermore, he advised the victim to reach out to the police station demanding stringent punishment of the accused.
