BJP stages torch rally in Siliguri after alleged attack on party leaders during 12-hour bandh

Siliguri, 29th August: In response to an attack on Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders during a 12-hour bandh on Wednesday, the party organized a torch rally in Siliguri the same evening. The rally was led by Dabgram-Fulbari BJP MLA Sikha Chatterjee.

Earlier in the day, both Chatterjee and Roy were allegedly attacked in the NJP area. Chatterjee has accused the Trinamool Congress of being behind the attacks. MP Roy was also allegedly attacked as he arrived to meet the MLA following reports of the initial assault.

Reportedly, the torch rally was a demonstration to demand swift action against the attackers and justice in the R.G. Kar case. The protest started at Ghogomali School and concluded at Ashighar More, with participants calling for the culprits to be held accountable.
