BJP stages protest outside Siliguri Mahakuma Parishad, alleges corruption and discrimination

Siliguri, 04th August: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) staged a protest in front of the Siliguri Mahakuma Parishad on Monday, accusing the ruling party of turning the council into a centre of corruption.

BJP leaders alleged that the parishad is functioning like a party office, with no regard for opposition opinions. A protest rally was taken out from Kanchenjungha Stadium to the parishad office, where BJP workers demonstrated.

A delegation from the BJP later submitted a memorandum demanding transparency in the council’s functioning.

Ajay Oraon, Leader of the Opposition in the Siliguri Mahakuma Parishad, stated that although meetings are scheduled for 4 p.m., they are often completed by 2 p.m. before opposition members arrive.

He alleged discrimination against him as a tribal representative and affirmed that the agitation will continue in demand of justice and fair treatment.
