Siliguri, 23rd August: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Mandal Committee No. 06 staged a ‘gherao’ outside the NJP Police Station as a part of the party’s state-wide protest.
According to reports, the political landscape in the state is shaken following the R.G. Kar Hospital incident. The BJP party has launched a campaign to siege the police station all across the state, including outside the NJP Police Station. In response, the police set up barricades in front of the station and deployed a large team to manage the situation.
However, as soon as the procession reached the police station, they broke the barricade and entered the police station. This led to a clash between the police and the protestors. Eventually, the BJP activists sat in front of the police station and continued their protest.
BJP’s Siliguri organizational district secretary, Sanjeev Kumar Singh, criticized the state government’s role in managing the R.G. Kar incident. Singh further demanded the immediate resignation of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
