Bagdogra, 20th July: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) staged a protest and submitted a memorandum at Bagdogra police station demanding arrests in the alleged kidnapping and assault of businessman Rajesh Dey Sarkar.
According to reports, the incident unfolded in front of a paan shop in Bagdogra where Rajesh Dey Sarkar was reportedly abducted from a four-wheeler at gunpoint by assailants who later fled after assaulting him. Despite a written complaint filed by 20 individuals at Bagdogra police station, no arrests have been made so far.
In response to the delayed action, BJP MLA Shankar Ghosh led a protest at Bagdogra police station today, where they submitted a memorandum demanding swift arrests and justice in the case. The incident has sparked concerns within the community, especially as the chairman of the Naxalbari Panchayat Samiti’s name has been linked to the incident, questioning the police’s role in the investigation.
The BJP has emphasized the need for prompt action by the authorities to apprehend the perpetrators and ensure the safety and justice of Rajesh Dey Sarkar. At present the entire incident is under further police investigation.
