BJP MLA Shankar Ghosh calls Chief Minister a ‘Joker’ during public campaign in Siliguri

Siliguri, 25th May: The verbal clash between the BJP and Trinamool Congress has intensified ahead of the assembly elections. During a public relations campaign in Siliguri, BJP MLA Shankar Ghosh took a sharp dig at Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, referring to her as a “joker”.

On Sunday morning, MLA Shankar Ghosh conducted a public outreach campaign in Ward Number Three of his assembly constituency. During the campaign, he interacted with local residents, listened to their grievances, offered prayers at temples, and distributed copies of the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita.

While addressing the public, the MLA mocked the Chief Minister’s recent visit to North Bengal, comparing it to a circus and directly calling her a “joker”.

Ghosh further criticized the Chief Minister, stating that she includes only Trinamool Congress MLAs, MPs, and officials in administrative meetings and government programs, sidelining BJP representatives. He pointed out that although Mamata Banerjee also holds the Police Minister portfolio, she publicly rebukes police officers as a show of authority. “This is all like a circus, and the joker of this circus is the Chief Minister herself,” he said.

In response, Darjeeling District Trinamool Congress spokesperson Vedabrata Dutt strongly condemned Shankar Ghosh’s remarks, stating that the BJP MLA is making such objectionable comments to secure his standing within the party. Dutt urged him to exercise restraint and choose his words carefully when criticizing the Chief Minister.
