Siliguri, 07th August: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Mahila Morcha of Siliguri district organized a two-day sit-in protest at Hashmi Chowk (Venus More) in Siliguri to denounce the escalating incidents of rape, murder, and abuse of women across West Bengal.
During the protest, the demonstrators not only expressed their deep concern over the widespread presence of such heinous crimes but also demanded the voluntary resignation of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. They accused her of failing to take necessary measures to curb the surge in rsuch cases in the state, while allegedly suppressing the democratic rights of the people.
State BJP Mahila Morcha President Phalguni Patra also joined the protest on Monday and criticized the Chief Minister for showing solidarity with Manipur, while her own state was grappling with similar acts of violence against women.
