Bagdogra, 29th January: A protest march was taken out in Bagdogra under the leadership of the BJP against the violent incident linked to a land dispute in the Phansidewa area of the Siliguri Sub Division, which included the alleged assault of a pregnant woman.
The incident occurred in the Jhamkalal Jote area of Phansidewa, where an Adivasi family was reportedly attacked a few days ago. Police investigating the case have so far arrested two accused persons in connection with the violence.
BJP MLA Durga Murmu participated in the protest march and demanded strict punishment for those involved in the incident. The MLA also questioned the role of the police in handling the case.
BJP leaders alleged that the administration had failed to deliver justice to the victim family, forcing the party to take to the streets in protest.
