BJP leaders rejoice over Suvendu Adhikari’s resignation as MLA

Minutes after Trinamool Congress leader and minister Suvendu Adhikari resigned from the membership of West Bengal Legislative Assembly on Wednesday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders expressed their happiness on the decision.

Addressing the media, party’s Vice President Mukul Roy claimed that members of Trinamool Congress (TMC) come to join the BJP every other day. He stated that the TMC is “collapsing like a house of cards.”

“The day Suvendu Adhikari had resigned from the ministerial post, I had told I will be happy if he leaves TMC & we will welcome him. Today he has resigned from the membership of West Bengal Legislative Assembly & I welcome his decision,” Roy said.

Likewise, West Bengal BJP president Dilip Ghosh called the move as “bound to happen.” He went on to allege that there is no democracy or respect for people in TMC. Ghosh stated that the leaders and party workers who wish to bring a change in Bengal and contribute to its development are leaving TMC and joining the BJP.

When asked on speculations of Suvendu Adhikari joining BJP during Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit to the state later this week, the West Bengal BJP Chief said that the party is waiting. “It is up to him to decide what does he want to do,” he added.
