Siliguri, 23rd July: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has called for a 12-hour bandh after allegations of murder of a BJP leader surfaced in Islampur. The strike was called by the party to protest against the incident. On Sunday, BJP’s Yuva Morcha State President Indranil Khan met the family of the deceased BJP leader in Siliguri.
As per reports, on Saturday, BJP leader Ashim Saha was attacked by a sharp weapon in Islampur. During the attack, another individual was also injured while attempting to save him. Later, Ashim was brought to a nursing home in Siliguri in critical condition where he succumbed to his injuries.
In this regard, the BJP party has alleged that Ashim was killed as he opposed “tolabaji” (cut money) in Islampur. Indranil Khan, after meeting the family of the deceased in Siliguri demanded strict punishment for the accused involved in the incident. While expressing concerns about the alleged prevalence of syndicate and “tolabaji” (cut money) in the state, he stated that the law and order has collapsed.
Furthermore, he accused that, goons backed by the Trinamool Congress (TMC) killed Ashim Saha, an active worker of the BJP Yuva Morcha. The Yuva Morcha President also stated that they would resort to state-wide protests against the incident.
