BJP launches ‘SMC Abhiyan’ over multiple demands in Siliguri

Siliguri, 02nd August: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) staged a protest outside the Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC) to address multiple demands.

Reportedly, on Friday, BJP’s Siliguri organizational district organized the Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC) Abhiyan. Led by Amit Jain, BJP’s Siliguri Organizational District President, workers and supporters marched in a large procession to the SMC. A significant police presence was deployed, but barricades were eventually removed as BJP leaders and workers began protesting in front of the SMC gate.

During the campaign, BJP accused SMC of lacking funds for the development of Siliguri while alleging that the assets of ruling party representatives, including the Deputy Mayor, are increasing. They also raised concerns about the lack of rehabilitation for those affected by eviction drives in Siliguri.

Amit Jain, Leader of Opposition (LoP) in SMC, criticized the Municipal Corporation for failing to provide adequate services to Siliguri residents. He claimed that when these issues were raised, SMC deflected by citing financial difficulties. Jain further alleged that although SMC claims to have no money, the properties and vehicles of their leaders are noticeably increasing.
