BJP halts road construction alleging use of substandard quality materials in Naxalbari

Naxalbari, 28th November: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders and activists, supported by the locals, halted the road construction work between Budhkaran Jote to Naxalbari College alleging the use of substandard quality materials.


According to reports, on Tuesday, the road work commenced in Budhkaran Jote of Naxalbari at an estimated budget of Rs 1 crore 32 thousand under the initiative of the Siliguri-Jalpaiguri Development Authority (SJDA). On this day, the locals and BJP workers protested alleging the use of inferior quality material.

BJP leader Sadhan Chakraborty complained that the work is being executed using inferior quality materials. He added that the completion date was already mentioned on the board prior to its completion. Furthermore, he stated that a formal complaint was made to the Block Development Officer (BDO) regarding the issue.


Meanwhile, Naxalbari Gram Panchayat Upa Pradhan Biswajit Ghosh refuted the allegations. He acknowledged the damaged guardwall and claimed to look into the matter. Furthermore, he cautioned against the halting of works.
