Siliguri, 03rd April: A political controversy has erupted after a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) flag was found hosited at the residence of former Siliguri MLA and veteran Communist Party Of India (Marxist) (CPIM) leader Ashok Bhattacharya. However, upon learning the matter, the CPIM leader removed the flag on Wednesday.
Reportedly, Siliguri Mayor Gautam Deb posted the image on social media and commented stating hidden ties between the CPIM and the BJP. Responding to the comment, Ashok Bhattacharya stated that the it reflects distorted mentality. He added that the BJP should take responsibility for the matter and further claimed to lodge a complaint.
Meanwhile, Siliguri MLA Shankar Ghosh stated of looking into the matter while denouncing the comment made by the Mayor. Further, he stated that the issue should be kept segregated from politics.
