Siliguri, 10th August: Following the formation of the board in Dabgram-II Gram Panchayat, an air of celebration swept through Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) members and supporters, on Thursday.
It is to be noted, in the recent panchayat elections, the BJP secured victory in 19 out of 30 seats within the panchayat, while Trinamool Congress claimed 11 seats. As a precautionary measure, today, Section 144 was enforced near the gram panchayat office, coupled with a substantial police presence across the area to avert any potential disturbances.
The BJP formed the board with a clear majority and Mitali Malakar was elected as the Pradhan of Dabgram-II Gram Panchayat, with Supen Roy as the Upa-Pradhan. The day witnessed the swearing-in ceremony, accompanied by jubilant celebrations from BJP members and supporters. Traditional abir was exchanged, while garlands and sweets welcomed the newly elected Pradhan and Upa-Pradhan.
