Siliguri, 19th August: Members of the BJP’s Mandal Committee No. 04 lent their support to the ‘Siliguri Municipal Corporation Abhiyan’ on Saturday, in support of several demands, including the resolution of the drinking water crisis. A rally was held, under the leadership of Amit Jain, the leader of the opposition party of the Siliguri Municipal Corporation, starting from Baghajatin Park in Siliguri.
However, the procession was halted as it approached the SMC premises. The police intervened, erecting barricades to restrict the procession’s advance. Later, a delegation consisting of five members, including by Amit Jain, met Mayor Goutam Deb to present a memorandum outlining their demands. The Mayor assured to look into the matter.
