Siliguri, 31st March: BJP candidate Shankar Ghosh launched a poster campaign across various parts of Siliguri, highlighting issues such as salary hike for government employees, filling of vacancies, and infrastructure development.
On Tuesday, posters were put up at locations including Siliguri Police Station, Siliguri Boys’ High School, and Siliguri Municipal Corporation.
Speaking on the occasion, Shankar Ghosh said that along with basic services like water, electricity, roads, drainage, and sanitation, government employees form a key pillar of administration. He stated that the contribution of permanent, temporary, and contractual staff is crucial for the functioning of the system.
He also alleged that employees such as sanitation workers, ICDS workers, health workers, para-teachers, and civic volunteers receive significantly lower pay compared to other states. He claimed that if BJP comes to power, their honorarium will be increased.
Ghosh further stated that work on the Seventh Pay Commission would begin within 45 days of BJP forming the government, which could lead to a 45 to 50 percent increase in salaries for Group B and C employees. He also raised concerns over the long-pending issue of unfilled vacancies in the state.
