BJP candidate Shankar Ghosh halts poll campaign, joins protest over minor girl’s suspicious death

Siliguri, 24th March: BJP candidate from Siliguri Shankar Ghosh has announced an indefinite halt to all election campaigning and public outreach activities, taking a firm stand following the suspicious death of a minor girl in the city.


Demanding immediate action and arrest of the accused, Shankar Ghosh had earlier set a deadline for authorities. As no concrete steps were taken within the stipulated timeframe, he escalated his protest.

On Tuesday, he staged a dharna at the base of the Ambedkar statue near Siliguri Junction. From there, he made it clear that he will refrain from participating in any political programmes until the accused is arrested and justice is delivered.


His decision has sparked widespread discussion in political circles, with many observing that it could have an impact on the electoral atmosphere in Siliguri.
