BJP calls for a 12-hour bandh across North Bengal on December 08

Siliguri, 07th December: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) called for a 12-hour bandh across North Bengal tomorrow opposing the police harassment faced by them during Uttarkanya Abhiyan today and protesting the death of a BJP worker.

BJP State general secretary Sayantan Basu said that the strike has been called protesting the death of the 50-year old BJP activist Ulen Roy during the Uttarkanya campaign. A candle march will be held across the state tomorrow evening.

It is to be noted that the atmosphere in Siliguri’s Tinbatti and Fulbari area had boiled up surrounding BJP’s Uttarkanya campaign that was called by the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Youth Wing against various issues and also in support of various demands for North Bengal. Unfortunately, a BJP worker lost his life during the campaign.
