BJP booth office in Ward No. 34 vandalized

Siliguri, 12 January: Political atmosphere is boiling up before the Siliguri Municipal Corporation election especially with the frequent reports of tearing of banners and posters across the city. A similar incident took place today where the booth office of Bharatiya Janata Party in Ward No. 34 was allegedly vandalized.


Reportedly, on Monday night, Ratan Das’, the BJP candidate from the said ward, booth office in F block was vandalized. Banners, posters, and party flags were torn and thrown in the river.


After the matter came to light, Matigara-Naxalbari MLA Anandamoy Barman, Dabgram-Fulbar MLA Sikha Chatterjee, Phansidewa MLA Durga Murmu, and other BJP members reached the spot. An F.I.R was registered in the NJP police station against the incident.

“The ruling party is scared, which complied them in taking such actions. Siliguri’s atmosphere was not like this before,” MLA Barman said further accusing the police administration of taking no immediate action. The MLA warned of staging a mass agitation if such an incident continues in the city.
