Siliguri, 23rd August: A complaint was lodged at the Naxalbari police station against the harassment faced by a BJP activist and his wife. However, even after 72 hours, no action has been taken by the police.
Condemning the lack of response from the administration, on Monday, the BJP leaders gheraoed the Naxalbari police station. Matigara-Naxalbari MLA Anandamoy Barman along with several district BJP leaders and activists were present during the protest.
MLA Anandamoy Barman accused the police of not performing their duty concerning the incident that took place in Hatighisa three days ago. “Even after 72 hours, police failed to take any action. While the victim has been arrested, the accused individuals are still at large,” he added. The MLA demanded the matter to come to the notice of CBI. A large police force was deployed at the Naxalbari police station to avoid any untoward incident.
