Naxalbari, 06th September: Panic spread across Pahargoomiah Tea Estate in Naxalbari after a bison wandered into the locality from the nearby forest. The presence of the large animal has caused fear among tea workers in the area.
The incident occurred on Friday morning when the bison entered Pahargoomiah from the Bagdogra forest area, leading to chaos among the local residents. Upon receiving the information, ADFO Rahul Deb Mukherjee of the Kurseong Forest Department, along with personnel from Bagdogra, Tukriajhar, Ghoshpukur Ranges, and the Sukna Squad, arrived at the scene.
The bison has been kept under surveillance, and forest workers are actively trying to guide it back to the forest. ADFO Rahul Deb Mukherjee confirmed that efforts are underway to safely return the animal to its natural habitat.
