Naxalbari, 15th November: The birth anniversary of tribal freedom fighter Birsa Munda was celebrated with pomp in Naxalbari Birsa Munda Hindi College, today. The Vice-Chancellor of North Bengal University Omprakash Mishra, Chairman of Siliguri Mahakma Parishad Arun Ghosh, Principal of Bagdogra College Meenakshi Chakraborty and others garlanded the statue of Veer Birsa Munda.
On this occasion, VC Omprakash Mishra said that being invited to the Birsa Munda College on the great leader’s birth anniversary was a big honour for him. He further added that owing to Munda’s contribution to the nation, the state government has declared a state-wide holiday on his birth anniversary.
