Naxalbari, 28 December: Two people were killed and two others injured in a road accident involving a bike and a scooty at Satbhaiya More in Naxalbari.
According to sources, four people were returning from Rathkhola towards the Tukuria Division on a bike and a scooty. At Satbhaiya More, both vehicles lost control and rammed into the rear of a stationary truck. All four riders fell on the road following the collision.
The bike rider, identified as Abhishek Oraon, died on the spot. The injured were taken to Naxalbari Rural Hospital, where two were referred to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) after preliminary treatment, while one was discharged. Another injured person, Roshan Oraon, later died while undergoing treatment at NBMCH.
The truck driver fled the scene after the accident. On receiving information, personnel from Naxalbari police station and Naxalbari traffic police reached the spot. Fire services personnel also arrived and brought the situation under control.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
