Siliguri, 02nd November: In a major achievement, the NJP police arrested a member of a Bihar-based gang for involvement in a recent theft at a temple in Siliguri. The arrested individual has been identified as Mohammad Sonu, a resident of Bihar.
According to sources, the theft occurred Saturday night at a temple near Ujjwal Sangha in Ward No. 31. The ornaments adorning the idol were reported stolen, and the authorities filed a written complaint with the NJP Police on Sunday morning. Following the complaint, the police launched an investigation and within 24 hours, arrested Mohammad Sonu from the NJP area. Subsequently, the stolen ornaments from the temple were recovered from his possession.
Police officials revealed that the Bihar-based gang had been active in Siliguri and surrounding areas, targeting teens by luring them with money to commit theft. The arrested Mohammad Sonu was produced in the Jalpaiguri court on Monday. Police are engaged in further investigation to capture the gang.
