Siliguri, 09th August: Officials from the Bidhan Market Bysbasayee Samiti conducted a cleanup operation in Bidhan Market on Friday, targeting shops that were encroaching on roads and footpaths. The raid aimed to address the issue of traders blocking public walkways with their goods, which had been causing inconvenience to shoppers.
Despite prior warnings, many traders continued to occupy road space and display their merchandise on the streets. During the operation, the Bysbasayee Samiti officials removed items from the front of shops and notified traders that road encroachment is prohibited.
Additionally, the operation included the removal of shades and other obstructions set up in front of various shops, ensuring that the footpaths and roads are kept clear for public use.
