Bhutan bridge collapse: Goutam Deb hands over Rs 2 lakh cheque to the family of the deceased engineer 

Siliguri, 12th February: State Tourism Minister Goutam Deb handed over a check of Rs 2 lakh to the family of Assistant Engineer of Siliguri, who died after an under-construction bridge in Bhutan collapsed on Wednesday.


Minister Deb visited the late Assistant Engineer Anshu Majumdar’s house this evening and met the mourning family. The minister expressed his condolences to the family members and prayed for the departed soul. He later provided financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh to the family on behalf of the West Bengal government.


Angshu Majumdar, a resident of Dabgram, Siliguri, had been working as an assistant engineer in Bhutan since 2016. He lost his life after an under-construction bridge in Bhutan collapsed. His body reached his home in Siliguri on Thursday night and was cremated. He left behind his parents, wife, and his 8-month-old child.
