Bharatiya Gorkha Prajatantrik Morcha announces candidates for three hill ACs

Darjeeling, 16th March: After the announcement of elections in the state, Anit Thapa’s party Bharatiya Gorkha Prajatantrik Morcha (BGPM) has declared candidates for three assembly constituencies in the hills. The candidate list was announced by the party on Sunday night.

Anit Thapa has already stated that the party will contest the assembly elections solo in the hills. Rudhen Sada Lepcha has been nominated as the candidate from the Kalimpong AC. He had won the seat in 2021 and became an MLA. Bijay Kumar Rai has been named the candidate for the Darjeeling AC, while Amar Lama has been nominated from the Kurseong AC.

Bijay Kumar Rai works as a school teacher and is also associated with several social organisations in the hills. Amar Lama, on the other hand, is the secretary of BGPM and had earlier served as a councillor in Darjeeling.

After the announcement of the candidates, GTA Chief Executive and Bharatiya Gorkha Prajatantrik Morcha president Anit Thapa urged strengthening of the regional party. The party has also started campaigning in support of the candidates on social media. Party leaders said they will take to the streets from Monday to campaign in different places across the hills.
