Bhaktinagar police recover banned fireworks in Siliguri, one arrested

Siliguri, 12th November: Based on a tip-off, the Bhakti Nagar police, on Wednesday night, launched operations in the ISKCON Mandir road area and seized a large number of illegal firecrackers worth lakhs from a shop. A person, identified as Dayakant Jha has also been arrested in the incident.


According to information received from police sources, ever since the Calcutta High Court has banned fireworks, this Diwali and Chhath Puja, the police have been keeping strict surveillance across the city.

It is to be noted that two days ago, the Bhakti Nagar Police also arrested a person along with banned fireworks worth 70 thousand rupees from the Bhupendra Nagar area under Ward no-42. The arrested accused was produced before the Jalpaiguri court today.
