Siliguri, 30th October: Bhakti Nagar police arrested the manager of a Gold Finance Company for duping people of crores of rupees. The arrested, Devendu Ghosh, was produced in Jalpaiguri court today.
It is to be noted, allegations against a gold finance company located at Sevoke Road of defrauding numerous people of crores of rupees had surfaced. The customers alleged that the company has sold their deposited gold without giving any notice.
The customers said that they had taken money on loan by pawning their gold jewellery in the said company. They deposited both their money and interest to the company from time to time. Despite this, the company allegedly sold their gold without any prior notice.
According to the information, more than 50 people have become the victims of the company in Siliguri. Based on their complaints lodged at the Bhakti Nagar police station, the police jumped into action and took the company’s manager Devendu Ghosh into custody for interrogation. He was later arrested and presented in court today.
