News Desk: The West Bengal cabinet, under the leadership of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, has given its endorsement to a proposal that mandates Bengali as the second language to be taught in all English medium schools across the state. The primary objective of this initiative is to underscore the importance of the Bengali language among students who might not otherwise have the opportunity to learn it due to their preference for other subjects.
The cabinet members have warmly welcomed the decision to establish an Education Commission tasked with implementing the requirement for Bengali to be a compulsory subject in all private schools as well. Furthermore, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has set a strict timeline of 15 days for the execution of this decision, as announced during the Cabinet meeting convened on Monday.
