Siliguri, 22nd April: Tourists visiting the Bengal Safari Park in Siliguri have a reason to rejoice as a new member has joined the park. A Himalayan Black Bear has given birth to a cub at the Bengal Safari Park after the Royal Bengal Tiger Sheela.
The cub was born in March and is currently with its mother, Phurbu. The sex of the cub will be determined soon. The father of the cub is Dhruba, and both mother and cub are being closely monitored by the park officials, who claim that they are healthy. The black bears were brought to the Bengal Safari Park from Darjeeling Zoo a few years ago. The park already has another black bear named Jennifer, Daddy.
The park management is delighted with the arrival of the new cub, especially after the birth of the Royal Bengal Tiger. Moreover, the forest department is planning to introduce more animals such as zebras, hippos, and lions to the park in the near future.
