Bengal Irrigation Minister inspects restoration work for Fuleswari and Jorapani Rivers

Siliguri, 17th January: The state irrigation department has undertaken the initiative to renovate the Fuleswari and Jorapani rivers in Siliguri. On Wednesday, state irrigation minister Partha Bhowmick, Siliguri Mayor Gautam Deb, and Deputy Mayor Ranjan Sarkar examined the Fuleswari and Jodapani rivers.


According to reports, earlier on Wednesday, the Irrigation Minister carefully assessed the Jorapani River in Ghogomali, under Ward Number 36 and 37 of the Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC). Later, he inspected the Fuleswari River and the Dabgram area of Subhash Pally. Following the inspection, Irrigation Minister Partha Bhowmik stated that the work on restoring Siliguri’s two significant rivers has commenced. Significantly, necessary arrangements will be made to restore the rivers to their previous state by the end of the year.

Meanwhile, Mayor Gautam Deb highlighted the significance of the visit and stated that the Irrigation Department has taken the initiative to repair the Fuleswari and Jorapani rivers. In addition, he added that beautification will also be undertaken apart from the restoration works of the rivers.
