Siliguri, 12th January: West Bengal DGP Rajiv Kumar arrived in Siliguri on his first visit to conduct a conference with the SPs and Police Commissioners of all the districts in the office of the North Bengal Inspector General (IG).
According to reports, the Election Commission is authorized to announce the date of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Previously, the Election Commission had requested a law and order report from the DGP Rajiv Kumar. As a result, the DGP visited North Bengal and met with the SPs and Police Commissioners of all the districts in North Bengal. The meeting lasted about an hour and a half. However, DGP Rajiv Kumar completed the meeting and exited without speaking to the media.
According to sources, several instructions were directed during the meeting to maintain law and order in the city without any possible unrest in light of the Lok Sabha elections. In addition, the administrative officials were informed to keep a watch on the wanted criminals.
