Siliguri, 28th August: As part of the 12-hour statewide bandh called by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday, Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) members took to the streets in Siliguri to enforce the shutdown.
In a demonstration of support for the bandh, BJYM members burned tyres at Jalpai More, causing a temporary traffic jam. The protest led to a disruption of traffic in the area for some time.
Police quickly intervened to control the situation, removing the burnt tyres from the road and restoring normal traffic flow.
