Banned crackers seized in bulk from Gandhi Maidan in Siliguri, one detained

Siliguri, 10th September: The Special Operation Group (SOG) and Siliguri Police have conducted a joint operation leading to the seizure of a large quantity of banned fireworks from the city. One individual has been taken into custody in connection with the case.

According to reports, the National Green Tribunal has mandated that only green fireworks are permitted to be sold in the city to protect the environment. However, illegal sale of banned fireworks still persists. As a result, the SOG of Siliguri Metropolitan Police has been closely monitoring businesses involved in the trade of these prohibited items.

The police team seized banned fireworks worth ₹10 lakh from a house adjacent to Gandhi Maidan under the Ward No. 08 of the Siliguri Municipal Corporation. The arrested individual is under investigation by the Siliguri Police Station, which is handling the case.
