Banned Chinese garlic sold in Siliguri markets, local businessmen protest

Siliguri, 24th July: Chinese garlic is being sold indiscriminately in Siliguri markets, despite a ban in India, prompting protests from local garlic businessmen. Additionally, the administration has been accused of inaction.

Reports indicate that Chinese garlic is being transported across the Indian border and sold in Siliguri. This garlic, reaching households, has raised health concerns among consumers.

On Wednesday, the businessmen of the Garlic Mandi at the Siliguri Regulated Market united to protest against the sale of Chinese garlic, submitting a memorandum to the Pradhan Nagar police station. They cautioned that if the administration fails to act, they would organize a massive movement.
