Bank employee arrested in Siliguri for opening account without customer knowledge

Siliguri, 14th August: A bank employee has been arrested in Siliguri for creating bank accounts in customers’ names without their knowledge and conducting transactions through these accounts. The arrested accused has been identified as Abhishek Roy.


According to reports, in July, a woman discovered that a bank account was opened in her name at a bank on Bidhan Road while preparing her income tax file. Compounding the issue, the account had been used for transactions amounting to nearly three crore rupees, of which she was unaware. Subsequently, she filed a written complaint at the Panitanki Outpost.

During the investigation, the police identified the involvement of a bank employee in the case and arrested him. Following an interrogation, the police revealed that the accused was responsible for opening these accounts without the customers’ knowledge. On Wednesday, the accused had been produced before the Siliguri Court.
