Bangladeshi youth arrested in Panitanki for illegal entry, fake documents recovered

Kharibari, 23rd May: A Bangladeshi youth identified as Ranjit Barman, a resident of the Rangpur Division in Bangladesh, was arrested by the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) during a routine border patrol in Panitanki area of Kharibari.


According to sources, Barman was intercepted on Thursday and detained for questioning. Upon inspection, several important documents were found in his possession, including a Bangladeshi birth certificate, passport, identity card, and forged Indian documents such as a voter ID and Aadhaar card.

It has been revealed that Barman had originally entered India legally on a visa in 2021 and returned to Bangladesh afterward. However, he allegedly re-entered India illegally and began residing with relatives in Panitanki.


Following his arrest, he was handed over to the Kharibari police. On Friday, he was presented before the Siliguri Sub-Divisional Court. The police have launched a detailed investigation into the case.
