Siliguri, 30th December: Following reports of a ban on Bangladeshi nationals entering hotels in Siliguri, controversy erupted over objectionable, obscene, and insulting comments made by a youth on social media. The Greater Siliguri Hoteliers Welfare Association has filed a formal complaint against the individual.
According to information, a few days ago, a news report circulated on social media about the restriction on Bangladeshi nationals in Siliguri hotels. In response to the report, a youth posted offensive and vulgar comments.
Hotel owners alleged that such remarks were an attempt to damage the image of the hotel industry and the association.
Ujjwal Ghosh, Joint Secretary of the Greater Siliguri Hoteliers Welfare Association, said irresponsible and indecent comments on social media not only harm the reputation of individuals and organizations but also create confusion and unrest in society. The association, taking the matter seriously, decided to pursue legal action.
Members of the association have demanded necessary legal action against the accused youth.
Meanwhile, the administration has assured a thorough investigation into the matter.
