Siliguri, 25th April: Police arrested Dilip Sutradhar (49), a Bangladeshi infiltrator, for illegally entering India with the intention of buying land. According to reports, Dilip had gone to the Registrar’s Office under Ashighar Out Post to get the land he had purchased earlier registered in his name. However, acting on a tip-off, the police of Ashighar Chowki searched Dilip and found a photocopy of his Bangladesh passport along with Indian Aadhaar card and Voter ID card.
A case was registered against him for illegally entering India from Bangladesh and he was presented in Jalpaiguri court. It is believed that Dilip had been living in the Ashighar area for a long time after illegally entering India. There are suspicions that he obtained Indian citizenship by fraudulently making a Voter ID card and Aadhaar card, after which he purchased more land in Ashighar.
Currently, the police are conducting further investigations and searching for those who sold the land to Dilip and helped him obtain the fake Aadhaar and Voter ID cards.
