Bangladesh tourists robbed of money and gold jewelry from moving train

Siliguri, 26th November: Two tourists visiting India from Bangladesh were reportedly robbed of their money, gold jewelry, and other valuables while traveling on the Kanchankanya Express.

The incident occurred on the night of November 24, as the tourists, identified as Iyana and her brother, were en route to Siliguri for a trip to Darjeeling and Sikkim.

Reportedly, Iyana stated that she and her brother had boarded the train in the evening after arriving in India on November 23 for sightseeing. During the journey, two individuals offered them tea, which they accepted. However, after drinking the tea, both tourists became unconscious. Upon regaining consciousness, they realized that they were in a hospital and their bags had been stolen, along with their money and gold jewelry.

Subsequently, Iyana filed a complaint with the Siliguri Junction Town GRP, but to no avail. The incident has raised serious questions about security on trains, especially regarding the lack of police presence and protection for passengers.
