Siliguri, 01st December: The Bangiya Hindu Mahamancha staged a protest on Monday and blocked the road at Baneswar More, demanding strict measures to prevent repeated accidents on Siliguri’s Eastern Bypass.
Members of the organisation later submitted a memorandum to the Ashighar Sub-Traffic Guard.
Protesters alleged that the bypass lacks adequate lighting, vehicles often drive on the wrong side, and illegal parking occurs frequently, all contributing to the recurring accidents.
They also claimed that despite multiple incidents, the administration often remains a silent spectator. While police become active for a few days after an accident, the situation soon returns to the same state. Protesters demanded enhanced police vigilance in the area.
