Siliguri, 06th December: Several organizations have raised their voices against the oppression of minorities in Bangladesh, the arrest of Chinmoy Das, and the disrespect of India’s national flag. A state-wide anti-Bangladesh protest has emerged, with the Bangiya Hindu Mahamancha demanding prohibition of Bangladeshi nationals to stay in hotels in India. The group has also called for the immediate expulsion of any Bangladeshis currently staying in Indian hotels.
Members of the Bangiya Hindu Mahamancha submitted a memorandum to the Siliguri Greater Hoteliers Welfare Association, presenting three main demands.
Bikramaditya Mandal, the president of Bangiya Hindu Mahamancha, stated they were protesting against the attacks on minorities in Bangladesh and the disrespect towards India’s national flag. Our demand is that no Bangladeshi nationals be allowed to stay in hotels in Siliguri. In addition, the issue will be raised with educational institutions and medical associations in the future.
On the other hand, Ujjwal Ghosh, Joint Secretary of the Siliguri Greater Hoteliers Welfare Association, condemned the unrest in Bangladesh but stated that the decision regarding allowing Bangladeshis in hotels would be made after discussions with other members of the association.
