Siliguri, 01st April: As Ram Navami approaches on April 6, Bangiya Hindu Mahamanch has once again taken to the streets, demanding the closure of all liquor shops in Siliguri on the occasion.
On Tuesday, members of Bangiya Hindu Mahamanch visited liquor shops and bars from Mahatma Gandhi More to Sevoke More in Siliguri, urging owners to keep their establishments closed for 12 hours on Ram Navami. Additionally, they also placed notices outside all liquor shops and bars in the area.
In this regard, Bangiya Hindu Mahamanch President, Bikram Aditya Mandal, stated that they had already made a request to the state government to close all liquor shops and bars on Ram Navami. However, he said that no official order had been issued. As a result, the group has resorted to this protest. He further cautioned that if any chaos arises due to the opening of liquor shops on Ram Navami, the state government and the police administration would be held fully responsible.
