Bangiya Hindu Mahamanch demands closure of liquor shops on Ram Navami in Siliguri

Siliguri, 26th March: The Bangiya Hindu Mahamanch has submitted a memorandum to the Siliguri Excise Department, demanding the closure of liquor shops and bars for 12 hours on Ram Navami, which falls on April 6.

Reportedly, a grand procession is scheduled to take place in Siliguri, along with the rest of the country, on the occasion of Ram Navami. The organization has urged authorities to shut liquor shops and bars temporarily to prevent any untoward incidents during the event.

Previously, a letter was sent to the Chief Minister requesting the closure of liquor shops and bars, but no positive response was received. Following this, a fresh memorandum was submitted to the Siliguri Excise Department on Wednesday.

Members of the Bangiya Hindu Mahamanch have warned that if any disturbances occur near liquor shops on Ram Navami, they will take action to shut them down.

They further cautioned that if no immediate action or official notification is issued, a larger movement will be launched.
