Ballot box looted and thrown into a pond in Jummagach, voting process disrupted

Siliguri, 08th July: Another incident of ballot box looting and throwing it into a pond has come to light from Jummagach in Sannyasikata. The incident occurred during the ongoing polling at Jummagach BFP School. A dispute between Trinamool and alliance candidates had been simmering since morning, leading to increased tension in the area during the afternoon.


According to local reports, a group of youths armed with sticks entered the premises in the afternoon and looted the ballot box before throwing it into the nearby pond. Subsequently, the entire voting process was halted. The police later retrieved the ballot box from the pond. Additionally, allegations have been made that several houses in the vicinity were also ransacked. Following the incident, a substantial police force was deployed to the area.
