Bagdogra, 19th June: Today, the Bagdogra Zonal (Anchal) Congress Committee staged a protest at Bagdogra Airport. Congress workers demonstrated and later submitted a memorandum to the Airport Director, advocating for their 6-point demands. Amitabh Sarkar, the Naxalbari Block Congress President, highlighted several issues in the memorandum.
The demands included an increase in the number of security gates at the airport, a reduction in prices of food and drinks at various counters within the airport premises, and an extension of the passenger disembarkation time from 5 to 15 minutes. Sarkar also raised concerns about alleged irregularities in the appointment of temporary staff at the airport, emphasizing the need for attention to these matters. In a warning to the authorities, Sarkar stated that if their demands were not addressed and accepted, a larger-scale agitation would be organized in the coming days.
