Siliguri, 13th May: In a significant breakthrough, the team of Bagdogra Excise Circle launched raids under the supervision of the Deputy Excise Collector and exposed counterfeit liquor business in an area under the jurisdiction of the Bagdogra police station.
Additionally, the team also seized a significant quantity of counterfeit foreign liquor and other items worth lakhs. During the raid an individual identified as Pawan Gupta was arrested.
As per details received, acting on a tip-off on Sunday, the Bagdogra Excise Circle team launched an operation and arrested Pawan Gupta from Bhuttabari area with 7.5 liters of fake foreign liquor.
After an initial interrogation of the arrested accused, the team learned regarding illicit manufacturing of counterfeit foreign liquor in Bagdogra area. Following this, the team launched another raid at Dhimal, Naya Basti area under the jurisdiction of the Bagdogra Police Station and seized spirits, fake foreign liquor, fake holograms, empty bottles, and other materials, worth Rs 26,78,125.
Meanwhile, accused Pawan Gupta has been produced before the Siliguri court on Monday. A detailed investigation of the entire case is currently underway.
