Bagdogra, 15th April: 31 buffaloes intended for smuggling into Bangladesh were seized after prompt action by the police. Two smugglers were also arrested in connection to the incident.
Reportedly, the Bagdogra police conducted a Naka Checking in the early hours of Saturday in the Bhuttabari area. During the operation, the team intercepted trucks carrying a large number of cattle. When the drivers failed to produce any valid documents for transporting the cattle, the duo was immediately taken into custody. The accused have been identified as Mohd Shamsul and Mohd Nasir. Both are residents of Katihar, Bihar.
The two accused were produced in the Siliguri Court today. According to police sources, the two had intended to smuggle the buffaloes from Bihar to Bangladesh via Assam. The police are probing the entire matter.
